Animal Rescue Network receives a high volume of requests to take in stray or abandoned cats. The shelter survives only thanks to donations and the hard work of volunteers. We do our utmost to help as many animals as possible, depending on the resources available, which can vary from one moment to another throughout the year.

We are therefore unable to accept every requests.

Why are you asking for the cat to be taken in by the shelter?*

The shelter does not practice any euthanasia apart from when there is an incurable medical condition that affects the quality of life of the animal in an unacceptable way. Our policy is to treat all health problems that can be treated without affecting the quality of life of the animal. As a result, our medical bills are very high. The Animal Rescue Network is a non-profit organization that receives no government funding or assistance. In the event that we are able to accommodate the animal, are you willing to donate money to help us take care of him until his adoption or death? (Answering no will not automatically result in denial of your request).*

Did you know that unlike cats in many shelters, those in the RSA do not live in cages? Some cats, because of behavioral problems or important health issues, will spend unfortunately many years with us. It would be inconceivable to keep them in cages all this time! In order to limit the risk of transmission of serious diseases, all new cats must pass through a quarantine period during which they are dewormed, vaccinated, sterilized, treated against parasites and tested for feline leukemia and feline immunodeficiency virus. The duration of the quarantine varies from 7 to 60 days depending on the case and must be passed in a cage large enough to accommodate a dog of the size of a Labrador. When leaving the cat at the shelter, you will be asked to sign a document stating that you irrevocably renounce your rights to the animal. If you subsequently wish to repossess it, the only way will be through the adoption process and absolutely nothing guarantees that the animal will be offered to you for adoption.
