About the shelter
The mission of the Animal Rescue Network (ARN)
Founded in 1994, the ARN is a no-kill, non-profit organization (NPO) dedicated to providing shelter for cats in need. We take in numerous cats with special needs that are not accepted elsewhere. The organization is composed solely of volunteers. Thanks to them, cats abandoned by their owners or strays are given a second chance.
Shelter and foster families
Our organization maintains a facility where over a hundred cats can be housed, as well as a network of foster families residing close to the shleter in Montreal.
Volunteers at the shelter take care of our cats and their habitat twice a day to ensure they receive the best care possible.
Our foster families care for the cats entrusted to them under the guidance of our shelter.
No animal is euthanized unless they are suffering, have an incurable and terminal illness or no longer have an adequate quality of life.
Help us by making a donation!
Sterilization and microchipping
All animals rescued by the ARN receive the care they need, regardless of expenses. Before joining their new families, all our cats are spayed or neutered, dewormed, vaccinated and microchipped.
Adoptions
All adoptions at the ARN are conducted responsibly. Each adoption request is thorougly evaluated to ensure is serves the best interests of our cats. Members of the ARN adoption team call interested families and then schedule an in-person visit to meet the cat in question. Additionally, we emphasise the importance of continuing regular veterinary follow-ups with adoptive families to ensure their cat’s needs are being met.
The Board of Directors
The Board of Directors consists of members elected for a two-year term. Their mandate is to recommend and implement operational and structural changes to build an optimal organization and maintain top-quality care for all cats under the ARN’s care.
